Helping navigate the necessary resources.
Caregiver support services were created to support parents/caregivers as they work through their child’s trauma, as well as continue to navigate daily struggles. The parents/caregivers meet one-on-one with the family care coordinator on an “as needed” basis to identify needs and work to overcome any barriers to meet those needs. The family care coordinator can assist the parents/caregivers with navigating local resources such as food pantries and the bus system, fill out paperwork to obtain services, and locate counseling services.
Our family care coordinator also manages the resources on-site for families utilizing the Center. The Yellow Dress Care Closet was created to meet the immediate needs of families served at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County. For more information on client services, becoming a partner, or donating to the Yellow Dress Care Closet, please contact family care coordinator, Jessica Turk.
Si usted es padre o cuidador y tiene preguntas sobre conductas sexuales problemáticas, envíe un correo electrónico a la Coordinadora de cuidado familiar Jessica Turk o llámela al (616)719-4687.
The CAC clinical team also has a caregiver therapist on staff. The caregiver therapist is available to provide support for parents/caregivers who may need to process their emotions with someone that understands the complexity and trauma of child sexual abuse. Our caregiver therapist provides short-term, individualized plans and can make outside referrals as appropriate if the caregiver needs additional support.
